We have been blessed to enjoy our expat experience in New Zealand.
Being out of the USA has broadened our visibility and thus our global outlook. Mainstream global news from all viewpoints are aired here in a non-judgmental format…the news…as it IS, without opinions or emotional sensationalism. This allows one to form an informed opinion of what IS. There IS so much more to consider and know other than what is aired in the USA.
For those of you who take for gospel only what you see on CNN or FOX or local networks…I encourage you to open up your mind outside of this censored box . It is truly amazing, not always pleasant, but much more holistic…. Do not choose to just follow like innocent sheep—-maybe to the slaughter.
Where we sleep at night or call home can change but regardless, we are all global citizens first and foremost continually. Best to strive to “View” the total picture for the opportunity to act accordingly.
how would one go about not listening to cnn and whatnot if we are, indeed in the US? when that is all thats available to us? (mainstream at least, on the tv, radio, and talk amongst family and friends) you said yourself you and Doug couldnt see past it until you left it entirely.
i completely agree that we should widen our views and not only take for fact what we see on the news, but do keep in mind that when youre living in the US sometimes you just dont have an other option. or the only other option is to go on huge internet surfing extravaganzas that ends up costing more time than its worth (in my opinion).
The internet is an amazing tool and is far more useful than the television. I highly suggest the following:

NYtimes is always good as well. I’ll keep my eyes open for watchable stuff, I know that there are some good video news networks on the web but I don’t have any specific addresses. More to come.
Try viewing the LINK channel and if you don’t subscribe or your local US cable company or Satelite company doesn’t have it call them and request…it may take awhile but sooner or later the more people request it the sooner it will happen.
At least it’s not totally ‘edited’ the way the rest of our news is – which is nothing more than entertainment!
When you have been brought up oversee’s, lived there since, you learn that what we are exposed to here is watered down so much.
At least the LINK TV channel provides a little bit more of a prospective.
